COMMUNITY PHARMACY TEAM OF THE YEAR
Davidsons Chemist Ballater team with Jeremy Meader, Numark DAVIDSONS CHEMISTS, BALLATER
The team from Davidsons Chemist in Ballater prides itself on its strong team ethic and attention to detail in providing excellent pharmaceutical care. The team is particularly busy in summer months, with many tourists visiting the area from all around the world. All of the team members have worked at the store for more than a year, but there are also some exceptionally long-standing employees, who have a varied skill set, which helps to optimise both effectiveness and patient care. The team spirit was particularly evident when the pharmacy was hit by Storm Frank at the end of December 2015. The pharmacy was completely destroyed, along with more than 300 homes and businesses in the local area. During the initial phase, the Ballater pharmacy team worked round the clock, playing a vital role in making sure locals were looked after and did not go without their medication. Within two working days, with hands-on support from
Davidsons head office, the team had set up a temporary dispensary within a room kindly gifted by Ballater Clinic, and had resumed the provision of the usual services. After months of hard work, the team were finally able to get back into a refurbished and redesigned pharmacy, and this provided a great opportunity for a fresh start. Every team member played a role in building up the business again.
‘We are so delighted to receive the award. We were just so delighted to even be shortlisted and get the opportunity to come to the awards! We have such a great team in Ballater and this will only motivate us further.’ Jade Robertson, Davidsons Chemist, Ballater
‘For Numark it is a fantastic opportunity to recognise the great work in community Pharmacy in Scotland and we are absolutely delighted for this Davidsons team, who serve their community so well.’ Jeremy Meader, Numark
