Emma Lavender, Positive Solutions with Cat Seller, Well Pharmacy, Kilsyth CAT SELLERS, WELL PHARMACY, KILSYTH
Cat is a registered Pharmacy Technician working within the Well Pharmacy in the former mining town of Kilsyth, which is located halfway between Glasgow and Stirling. This is a busy pharmacy for both walk-in and repeat prescriptions, being one of three pharmacies serving a population of approximately 15,000 in the town and villages in the surrounding area. Cat’s role within the pharmacy team is a vital one - to deliver exceptional customer care and to lead by example. As a registered Pharmacy Technician, she is responsible for delivering professional and NHS standards across the dispensary and store, with responsibility for ensuring the effective day to day running of the dispensary. As a senior member of the team, she deputises for the Pharmacy Manager as required. Working under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager, she helps dispense prescriptions, including for the large number of substance misuse patients, whilst maintaining
the day-to-day relationships with GPs and other local healthcare professionals. In the recent absence of her Manager, Cat stepped up and helped drive CMS, pushing the store to exceed the highest target set by the Scottish Government. This has allowed her to develop her consultation skills further and to become more confident in giving patients advice on their medicines and their compliance. She provides extra support to these patients often helping them through difficult times and, in doing so, building strong relationships with them.
