Elmer the Elephant parades into town
St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth have partnered with Plymouth Waterfront Partnership and Plymouth City Centre Company to build on existing cultural, tourism and regeneration strategies, encouraging residents of all ages to be tourists in their own city, as well as inviting visitors to explore, discover and celebrate Elmer’s Big Parade. The trail will feature at least 40 large sculptures featuring designed
artwork by local artists, both well-known and emerging talent. The Chamber is pleased to announce that St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth has given the Devon and Plymouth Chamber of Commerce the unique opportunity to sponsor one of the individually designed and beautifully created Elmer Sculptures (as a group) in the Elmer’s Big Parade. Ultimately, the large sculptures will be auctioned off to raise
significant funds for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, ensuring a fitting legacy for the people and communities of Plymouth and the surrounding areas which benefit from the outstanding work of St Luke’s.
Useful information • Elmer’s Big Parade Plymouth running from 8 July to 16 September. Our ele-friend will be visiting local schools this Spring to spread the word.
• Elmer is a wise soul, helping schools bust myths around the ‘taboo’ subjects of death, dying and bereavement to enhance understanding for those experiencing loss.
• Elmer’s Big Parade Plymouth is raising money to support the outstanding end of life care St Luke’s provides. The finale will be the auction in October, where the sculptures will be going, going, gone to raise as much as possible for St Luke’s.
