Pharmacy of the Year AWARDS Supported by KENNEDY’S PHARMACY, RASHARKIN

From the moment it opened as a new contract in 1997, Kennedy’s Pharmacy’s focus was very much on delivering optimal customer service to its patients. In 2002, as the business progressed, an opportunity arose to expand and modernise the premises further with a trebling of floor space and the installation of a substantial consultation room.

At the end of 2017, contractor Patrick Kennedy realised that, despite the pharmacy’s relatively modern appearance, further modernisation was required in order to ensure that it was able to deliver the level of care it wished to for its local community.

Extensive research was carried out including visits to The Pharmacy Show and several pharmacies from Ballymoney to Balbriggan. The team also regularly brainstormed and, over

time, fine-tuned its plans until it was ready to go out to tender. David James Ltd were appointed as the shopfitter and their attention to detail and quality of workmanship were of the highest standards.

As a result, the premises were completely revamped and the pharmacy now boasts: robotic technology, which has changed the orientation of the dispensary, effectively ‘pushing’ the dispensary team forward to engage more effectively with patients; the installation of a further ‘treatment room’, in addition to the existing consultation room. This has resulted in delivery of new services to patients such as physiotherapy, audiology and ear wax removal services.

‘I am absolutely delighted for the whole team. The staff worked so hard and it’s great for both the pharmacy and for local community spirit’ Patrick Kennedy

‘It is vitally important that pharmacy professionals network at events like the Pharmacy in Focus Awards to share ideas and best practice, to meet and talk with people experiencing the same challenges as them, and to remind ourselves - and each other - about all the great work being done across the sector’ Rupert Newman, Sangers AAH
