TIMELESS & MODERN Since 2018’s royal nuptials, plenty of designers for 2019 have followed suit, with simple and classic dresses. Names in the frame include: • Savannah Miller • Catherine Deane • Maggie Sottero • Suzanne Neville
T
rue to romantic style, this year’s collections offer something for every bride-to-be – classic styles to fall in love with including
princess dresses, fi shtail dresses, strapless, lace and much more. The standout trend, however, is simplicity – modern and chic – echoing the tailored, embellishment- free Givenchy gown, designed by Clare Waight Keller, worn by Meghan Markle last May when she married Prince Harry at St George’s Chapel Windsor. Featuring long sleeves and a simple boatneck neckline, it also featured a train, though the length of the train paled in comparison to her 16-foot veil. And for
the fi nishing glittering touch, Meghan paired her dress with a tiara – the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau tiara. Second royal wedding of 2018 – that of Princess Eugenie to Jack Brooksbank, also at St George’s Chapel Windsor, mirrored Meghan’s simplicity, with the dress also lacking lace and any extravagant embellishments. Princess Eugenie opted for a wide V-necked gown by Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos. Layered and with a fi tted bodice and full, pleated skirt, the dress plunged to a low back. With no veil, the Grenville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara – her “something borrowed” from the Queen – completed the stunning look.
SLEEK & SOPHISTICATED Another style that’s been infl uenced by the 2018 royal weddings is the rise of the halterneck dress, offering sleek and sophisticated style and an alternative choice to the popular off- the-shoulder and strapless wedding gowns. Look out for designs by: • Ronald Joyce • THEIA
• Justin Alexander MAGIC METALLIC
Also making a name for themselves in 2019 as an eye-catching option are metallic wedding dresses, with sparkly shades ranging from champagne and rose gold to silver. Designers featuring metallic in their range, include: • Jenny Packman • Eliza Jane Howell
