members– especially our youngest members– enter the club, touch the stone and leave the negativity of their days behind them. Continuing education for our in-

structors is important to me. It en- sures that they’re inspired and current with what is happening in the fitness world. We provide this education at no charge, and over the years we have been fortunate to host fitness profes- sionals such as Jeff Bagshaw, Marjorie O’Connor, Helen Vanderburg, Doug Swenson and Krista Popowich. We’re also passionate about com-

munity support. The Racquet Club sponsors youth athletics and local charities, runs fundraising events for mental health initiatives and the local women’s centre, and provides support to our regional hospital in the form of silent auction items.

I’m fortunate to be surrounded by

an incredible and very supportive management, fitness and front desk team. They are given freedom and are encouraged to share ideas about anything that will improve our facil- ity and programs and their own work experience.

Members matter Our member Jane Mooney is an ex-

ample of one person who has bene- fited from our team’s commitment to member wellbeing. In her thirties, Jane was diagnosed with degenerative cer- ebellar ataxia and chronic rheumatoid arthritis. A former high performance athlete, Jane found herself unable to perform tasks as simple as balanc- ing while walking. Her neurologist in- formed her that she would likely be in a wheelchair by her early fifties.

Our motto is “every day our best gets

better.” Kelli Ann Hinchey
