fEditor’s tip

appy New Year! After surviving what was probably one of the busiest months in your PTA calendar, we hope you can fi nd

time for a bit of a break this month before starting to plan your next big event, which might well be your May or Summer Fair. School fairs are incredibly popular (and

are typically the biggest earners on the PTA calendar) but if you’ve been on your school’s PTA for a couple of years or more then there’s a chance you’re starting to experience a bit of fair fatigue. If that’s the case (or if you’re simply looking for

additional events ideas) then turn to our feature on summer fair alternatives on p35, for tried-and-tested advice on everything from circuses to music festivals. While we’re talking events, something that seems to pop up on our Facebook

page more and more is the question of how to be more eco-friendly. While most of us take steps to reduce our environmental impact in our personal lives, have you ever thought about the amount of plastic we get through at school events? Turn to p42 for tips on how to make your fundraising events greener. We’ve also got some fabulous testimonials, covering everything from a

sponsored bunny hop to a murder mystery night, as well as advice on the simple steps you can take to boost funds, such as setting up a passive income stream or hiring out or selling off your PTA equipment and stock. If you’re already thinking ahead to the end of the school year and how best

to say goodbye to school leavers, turn to p26 for a selection of gift ideas, and discover how one school marked the end of SATs with a ‘wacky wipeout’ (p32)! Here’s to a great spring term – and do get in touch, either via our Facebook

page or using the contact details below, if you have a fundraising success story you’d like to share, or if you’re looking for advice. We’re always happy to help!
