The Prince of Wales’s Volunteers South Lancashire Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1902-14, a good quality example the blue skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the very fine frontal plate of crowned star pattern backplate with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet a silver Sphinx/Egypt, a silver scroll below ‘South Lancashire Regiment’, buff leather sweatband with crimson silk lining stamped ‘Regulation Cork Helmet’, the plate is not original to the helmet, moth patches to the rear right panel and considerable surface moth damage otherwise in sound condition

Loyal North Lancashire Regiment Officer’s Blue Cloth Helmet c. 1902 -14 Together with an Unnamed Carrying Tin, a good quality example the blue cloth skull complete with all gilt metal fittings, the very fine frontal plate of crowned star pattern backplate with laurel and Garter overlays, in the centre on a ground of black velvet the Royal Crest in silver over a gilt metal and enamelled rose, a silver scroll below ‘Loyal North Lancashire Regiment’, buff leather sweatband with named label to ‘V.C.Watson’, the plate not original to the helmet, the chin chain side ornaments are of 1869 shako pattern, very good overall condition (2) £400-500
