RIGHT TO COMPENSATION ON DEATH OF AN AGENT


Regulation 17(8) of the Commercial Agents’ Council Directive Regulations 1993 entitles my estate to claim compensation in the event of my death during the continuation of my agency. The Executors of my estate must pursue this death in service benefit. They should contact the lawyers at The Manufacturers’ Agents’ Association.


It is essential that this claim is made within 12 months of my death. Please ensure a MAA solicitor is instructed forthwith to send a letter making a claim on behalf of my estate. I attach a copy of my annual accounts showing my income and expenditure together with details of the income from each agency I operate which I will regularly update to assist my Executors and the MAA solicitor in valuing the claim should I die during the operation of my agency.
