The last time I wrote an Open Road column was believe it or not, last year. Where does the time go? If you can remember I was telling you that I had to change my car and that I was likely to purchase a used car. Well, what do I know! I now have a new car, well it’s not so new as I have


had it now for 9 months and have put 9000 miles on the clock. Before I tell you what I bought and how I bought it, I have to step back to August last year and a trip to America which started the process. I had flown to California to attend a business


conference and had to travel from Los Angeles to San Diego where the conference was taking place. I decided not to hire a car and instead took the Amtrak train from Grand Union Station in LA to SD. This train is known as the Surfliner and what a wonderful journey I had. The train skims along the Pacific coast and at times it literally touches the beaches. The scenery was wonderful and the journey took about 2.5 hours.


WIFI on the train I started to surf web-sites looking for deals on cars. I stumbled across one called
