Talent Inspiration Programme 2014

The Talent Inspiration Programme (TIP) will bring together 200 young aspiring athletes from across the country to participate in a 3 day residential learning experience in Manchester from Thursday 4 September – Saturday 6 September.

With young people at the heart of the programme, the activities are specifically designed to engage and inspire young people and encourage them to start thinking about how they can reach their sporting and leadership potential and the impact it will have on them as a young person.

Consisting of theoretical workshops, practical sessions and the opportunity to experience what it is like to be an athlete at the Sainsbury’s School

Games Level 4 event, TIP will be a dynamic learning opportunity which will help to highlight the athletes’ talent pathway. It is aimed at Year 8-10 students. Athletes must have competed at either Level 1, 2 or 3 of the Sainsbury’s School Games.

They must currently be participating at county or regional level but not part of a National Governing Body (NGB) talent pathway or playing at national standard.

St Edmund’s Girls School were lucky enough to be the first to hire the Wiltshire and Swindon Sport Specialist basketball wheelchairs that they have purchased for groups in the county to hire. The Girls were able to make use of them for 3 weeks and the students have had the opportunity to learn the game of Zonal basketball which is a 4v4 inclusive basketball game. Teams are made up of 2 ‘able bodied’ players who are only allowed round the edge of the court and 2 players in wheelchairs. This has been a

fantastic opportunity for our girls to experience an inclusive sport.

If you would like to know more about your school or group being able to hire these wheelchairs please contact WASP -

Kirsty@wiltssport.org.uk or call 01380 725111.
