Drink less, live longer

Male depression may be linked to infertility

Experts writing in the journal Fertility and Sterility have found that depression in men may be linked to a lower chance of pregnancy in couples being treated for infertility. In their study the experts discovered that couples

where the male partner had major depression were 60 per cent less likely to conceive and have a live birth than those where the male partner didn’t have major depression.

Current UK drinking recommendations state both

men and women should not regularly drink more than 14 units of alcohol a week to keep the health risks from drinking to a low level. This has recently been shown to be good advice, as a large-scale, worldwide

study suggests drinking fewer than six glasses of wine or six cans of beer a week may help you live longer.

The study, published in The Lancet, was carried out by experts at the University of Western Australia.

September 22 World Carfree Day

Held every year on or around September 22, World Carfree Day encourages people around the globe to give up using their cars, just for a day. Instead of using your car, why not take public transport, cycle or even walk, the campaign suggests? Mark your calendar and help the organisers

achieve their aim of showing what our cities might look like, feel like and sound like without cars. For more information, visit www.worldcarfree.net/wcfd.
