Life after divorce:

why you should give up smoking and exercise more

According to experts from the University of Arizona, divorced people are at a higher risk of poor health outcomes than

married people – and their health choices may be to blame. The researchers have identified two possible culprits: smoking and a lack of exercise.

The study analysed information from more than 5,000 participants, 926 of whom were divorced or separated and

had not remarried, and the rest of whom were married. And by keeping track of the participants who died during the study period, they discovered that those who were divorced or separated had a 46 per cent greater risk of dying than their married counterparts.
