Foundation Awards

Record-Breaking Amount in Scholarships for 2018-19 This year, the American

Quarter Horse Foundation is awarding more money in scholar- ships to more students than ever before: 76 students will receive a total of $700,250 to support their education over their academic ca- reer.

“The American Quarter

Horse Foundation and its commu- nity of donors is proud to create impact for our industry by sup- porting the educational goals of tomorrow’s equine industry lead- ers,” said Anna Morrison, chief Foundation officer. ”It is the col- lective passion and generosity of our American Quarter Horse fam- ily that supports our youth in chasing down their educational dreams, and it is these same youth who will impact the future of the horse we love so much.” See the impact a Founda-

tion scholarship can have by watching a newly released video featuring Dr. Jessica Leather- wood, who received the AQHF Youth Scholarship in 2003. Since its inception in 1976,

the Foundation scholarship pro- gram has awarded more than $6.8 million in financial assistance to more than 1,300 American Quar- ter Horse Youth Association members. Depending on specific scholarship criteria, recipients are

Horse Association is making significant changes to its media properties this summer

that will benefit readers and their advertising partners. Beginning in August, all AQHA members will receive two more issues annually of America’s Horse and will have access to all content from The American Quarter Horse Journal,

Performance Horse Journal and Ranch Horse Journal. In addition, upgrades to their newsletters will be released this summer and AQHA.com upgrades are set for the fall. America’s Horse will now

be published monthly. Members will continue to receive a print version of America’s Horse eight times annually and will now enjoy four interactive issues de- livered in February, April, Sep- tember and November. Those four interactive issues of Amer- ica’s Horse will also be available through AQHA.com and deliv- ered by email to an expanded au- dience of more than 200,000 American Quarter Horse owners. All told, more than 460,000 American Quarter Horse enthusi- asts will have access to these dig-

ital issues, proving once again that America’s Horse offers the opportunity to reach more horse owners than any other media property in the world. AQHA recently received

feedback on The American Quarter Horse Journal, Perform- ance Horse Journal and Ranch Horse Journal through several surveys of AQHA leadership, advertisers and readers. It was clear that the content was highly valued and delivering editorial in a targeted manner was appre- ciated. However, most

re-

sponded that they preferred a single subscription and wanted additional digital access to the content. Therefore, beginning in August, they are merging con- tent from all three versions of the Journal into one print publica- tion and will provide digital ac- cess to that content to all AQHA members. Those who prefer a print version of the Journal can subscribe and receive a monthly magazine with two additional “bonus” issues of Ranch Horse Journal in May and August. The new monthly maga-

zine will provide competition coverage of AQHA shows and

programs, as well as equine health care and training features, and competition coverage of al- liance partners and other western performance disciplines. In ad- dition to the bonus issues of Ranch Horse Journal, ranch- horse content and ranch-horse competition coverage will be in- cluded in the September, Janu- ary, March and June issues of the Journal. The new print version of

The American Quarter Horse Journal combines the three cur- rent paid magazines into one subscription for owners who prefer a print product. Print sub- scribers will total 26,700 at launch. Additionally, AQHA will now give the entire AQHA membership access to content from all versions and issues – meaning digital access for all 251,263 members as an AQHA member benefit. For the digital audience,

independent versions of the Journals will be presented online – The American Quarter Horse Journal, Performance Horse Journal, Ranch Horse Journal and Quarter Racing Journal. Each version will offer addi-

tional stories, rich media, lead- ers, statistics and more that is not presented in the print version. These issues will be shared with AQHA members with interests in those specific areas, creating more value for members and more eyes on your ads. AQHA Media is proud to

publish some of the most re- spected titles in the industry. AQHA was recently awarded a record-breaking number of awards at the American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards ceremony. The Ameri- can Quarter Horse Journal re- ceived the top award, general excellence (large circulation), with America’s Horse named as runner-up in that category. Ranch Horse Journal received the top award, general excel- lence (circulation under 15,000). In addition to these showcase awards, they were honored with 18 other awards for editorial and design.
