Go crazy with golf this Summer T

udor Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club’s popular junior golf camps

are back this summer, giving youngsters aged five to 15 the chance to learn a new sport or brush up on their skills. With nearly 80 junior members and one of the first clubs in Kent to install junior tees on all 18 holes of its Championship golf course, Tudor Park, in Bearsted, know a thing or two about geting children excited about golf. “As well as being a fun activity outdoors,

away from the computer and TV, there are lots of

life skills learnt on the golf

course which children can use in other environments, such as at school,” says junior organiser, Stephen Haffenden.

Te junior camps will run from Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 12noon on July 30th to August 3rd, August 13th to 17th, and August 20th to 24th. Tere will be two camps each morning, for five to nine-year-olds and the other for 10 to 15-year-olds.

Each morning session is £20 per person and all golf equipment is provided. Te camps are designed around the children rather than being too structured and include games, skill tests and prizes, plus a competition each Friday to round off the week. For more information, call 01622 739412.

Golf is good for kids because:

· Helps with coordination – youngsters as young as five can pick up a junior sized club and have a go at putting.

· Great for young lungs as they are out in the fresh air with lots of walking · Develops strong core muscles which helps with balance and stability · Encourages a mature attitude to winning and losing · Teaches life lessons such as learning to listen and have respect for others. · Teaches honesty – golf is the one game where you score yourself.
