Ramsgate Week Ramsgate


Royal Temple Yacht Club Annual Regatta sees Ramsgate playing host to a full programme of racing, sailing and shoreside activities across the town. This friendly regatta is widely recognised as the alternative to Cowes. Live music every night in the club. Ramsgate week 2018 has something for everyone even if you are not com- peting it is still a great time to visit as the town is buzzing.

Maidstone Raft Race River Medway, Maidstone


Maidstone Boat Gathering (formerly Maidstone River Festival) is returning. As part of the festivities the traditional Raft Race has also been revived. The raft race is open to all, with a maximum crew number of six per raft. All rafts must be homemade and propelled by paddles only. The entry cost for each raft is £50 with all proceeds going to Heart of Kent Hospice. After the race there will be prizes for First Past the Post and Best Dressed. The largest gathering of military vehicles in the world rumbles into the heart of the Kent countryside. Thousands of military vehicles gather from around the world representing the armies of the 20th century. Look out for tanks, artillery, armoured and amphibious vehicles, cars, Jeeps, bicycles and motorbikes, emer- gency and commercial vehicles – and lots more. Living History scenes will provide a unique picture of life in conflict with depictions from WW1 to the present – see the British living in trenches, GIs in Vietnam, Russians relaxing with an accordion after a hard day in battle, or Germans plotting their next moves! Bedgebury Pinetum, Goudhurst


Do you want to be able to tell your gatekeeper from your meadow brown? Join butterfly specialist, Anna Picken, on a butterfly walk to learn about the resident and mi- grant butterflies that can be found in the Pinetum. As you walk around the Pinetum, you will learn about the habits of butterflies and how to identify the different species.
