Dartmouth
A pretty town situated at the mouth of the River Dart and home to Britannia Royal Naval College
Boating time is family time...
Dartmouth Boat Hire is located on the town’s riverside embankment, where it operates a fleet of boats for up to eight passengers.
With a wide variety of boats from which to choose, including cabin cruisers, open boats, dory or open launches, and day sailing boats com- plete with outboard motors, there is a craft for everyone, however they wish to enjoy their time on the water.
No licence is necessary although the hirer is required to show compe- tence and confidence in boat han- dling and, in the case of sailing boats, relevant sailing experience. Boats can be taken out for periods from one to six hours, or longer by arrangement.
Included within the price is engine fuel; life jackets for all (including infants); safety equipment and an information pack complete with chart.
THE place to head for plants and lunch
Gardentime is a must for anyone with an interest in gardening! There’s a traditional garden centre feel about the place and a warm welcome from our helpful staff. The large plant sales area has been filled to bursting point with beautiful top-quality plants. Why not pick up a colourful patio plant, arrangement or something a bit bigger, an ideal holiday gift or special momento. Alongside the stun- ning array of healthy plants there’s a shop full of seeds, pots, tools, composts, fertil- izers… well, every- thing you would need to create or maintain your garden!
Having built up a thirst walking around the garden centre,
there’s a delightful cof- fee shop with barista coffee, cooked break- fast, freshly baked homemade cakes, lunches with daily specials and, of course, Devonshire cream teas. Just the perfect place to relax in tran- quil surroundings. Our Glasshouse Café also has free Wifi for you to catch up with home. Look no further for your food shopping – our new onsite Farm Shop stocks the very best local produce. Great ranges of fresh fruit, vegetables, meat, drinks, dairy and tasty goodies from around Devon, all available seven days a week. See

Under 12s go free at Dartmouth Museum
Dartmouth Museum is far from the usual perception that museums are dusty and boring – very far from it! We are a small yet unique museum offering something for all the family.
You could start in the King’s Room where King Charles II took shelter from a storm in the estuary in 1671. Here you can see a fine dis- play of ship models showcasing Dartmouth’s rich maritime history. Proceed to the Henley Study, a superb Victorian display where the children can enjoy hands-on
exhibits, quizzes and colouring. The Holdsworth Room houses a replica Second World War air-raid shelter where you can watch a film of Dartmouth’s preparations or see the Doll’s House and discover its grisly past. Last but not least, discover Dartmouth’s hidden jewel – just ask at reception.
Open seven days a week through- out the summer, we hope that Dartmouth Museum will be a MUST on your holiday list of ‘things to do’.
