What Can We Do Today? Art with fun
Coarse fishing at its best
The South Hams has many wonderful coarse fishing venues but, nestling in a secluded valley on the outskirts of Kingsbridge, Coombe Water Fishery is regarded by many to be one of the best.
Established more than 30 years ago it consists of three lakes; two an acre each and a smaller one of around a third of an acre. The two larger lakes are stocked with plenty of carp, bream and roach, with double figure carp and roach up to 1.5lbs. The smaller lake has roach, carp and some bream/roach hybrids, which give the young, and not so young, fisherman a good day’s sport.
There is ample parking and loos are provided. Wheelchair access to the lakes is very good. Prices range from £8 per day for adults, £6 per day for OAPs to £5 per day for under 16s. For further details contact Jonathan Robinson on 07971 077980 or visit

Come and wash the dust off in our creative haven, The Art Cafe. We are a family-run business and have been trading for four years and are very child friendly.
Why not come and paint ceram- ics or have a go at decoupage. It’s not just something to do – it’s thera- py! We want to share with you our tips and techniques for creating something amazing. While here why not have one of our top-notch hot or cold drinks with a slice of homemade cake, or if you are hun- grier, we also serve baguettes and paninis.
The turnaround time for firing
ceramics is two to five days. Don’t worry about enough time to take your artwork home as we can post ceramics home if you’re on holiday. We are open Monday to Saturday 10am until 5pm, but booking is advisable, especially on wet days and during the school holidays as we do get very busy. Call us on 01548 852802.
And for those of you who say you can’t paint, here’s some advice from Vincent Van Gogh: “If you hear a voice within you say ‘you cannot paint’, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.”
The adventure starts here!
Let your children have an adven- ture at Forest and Beach. They can spend the day in the private wood- lands learning how to light fires, build dens, make bows and arrows, use woodworking tools, cook on the open fire, whittle and shoot some arrows on the archery range. The children are in the safe hands of experienced Forest School practi- tioners, who are as keen for an adventure as the children are! The day starts at 9.30am, where you can drop off your explorers with a packed lunch and some sausages to cook on the fire.
The children are introduced to the area and each other and then, with lots of tuition and support, can go in search of an adventure of their choice. A break for hot chocolate and cookies around the camp fire
keeps the energy levels up and then off again into the wilderness for more fun. The children can fill their day and choose their activities in whatever way they want – they are in charge of their quest and Forest and Beach staff are there to support. After lunch the sausages are cooked, marshmallows are toasted on the fire and your happy pio- neers, with new-found friends, are in their element having spent a day outdoors.
Forest and Beach return your swashbucklers at 3.30pm, muddied, smelling of campfire and full of tales of their day. All that’s left is for you to decide how to fill your day in the beautiful South Hams. Watch videos and book online
