5th: Kingsbridge Cook worthy Museum family day, 10.30am- 4pm. Child ren’s activities, craft demonstrations, quizzes, Easter trail and more.
8th: Sharpham Heritage & Spring Garden Open Day, Sharpham House, Ash pring ton, Totnes. Take a tour of Sharpham House and wander through the gardens along the Ladies’ Walk. With wonderful views over the River Dart, a medley of spring flowers and trees in blossom, the gardens are a real delight during the spring. 10.30am to 4pm.
15th: Head of the Dart Challenge, River Dart, Dart Harbour, Dartmouth. The Head of the Dart is a stand-up paddle- boarding event over eight miles that alternates direction annual- ly: Totnes to Dartmouth one year, Dartmouth to Totnes the next. This year, it will be starting in Dartmouth and finishing in Totnes. 2pm to 4pm.
17th: Guided tour of Shilstone. Devon Rural Archive, Shilstone House, near Modbury. Tour led by resident archaeologist Abi Gray exploring history of the site and surviving archaelology and rare architectural features. 2pm- 3.30pm. .
21st: Point to Point, Flete Park. Fun day for all the family with a mix of different races.
28th-May 5th: Modbury May Fair Week. Stalls, music, perfor- mances and other entertainment.
29th: Exercise Tiger Service, Sherman Tank Memorial Site, Torcross. Dedicated to the mem- ory of the 639 American soldiers and sailors who perished on April 28, 1944. The memorial ser- vice will be held at 2.30pm.
29th: Big Day Out on the Farm, East Soar Farm, near Kings - bridge. Join the Rangers and South Devon AONB for farm walks, children’s activities, meet the animals, barbecue and refreshments. 11am-3pm.
May
5th: Modbury Harriers Point to Point, Flete Park. The point to point race days at Flete draw some of the biggest crowds of horses and spectators in the south west point-to-point calen- dar. They provide an exceptional day both for racing enthusiasts, and families wishing to enjoy a spring Saturday out in the coun- try.
5th-7th: Brixham Pirate Festival. A swashbuckling mix of piratical fun and entertainment around the harbour.
6th: Salcombe Crabfest. Inspired by the famously flavoursome brown crab caught off the south
music, song and dance.
8th-13th: Merlin Rocket Week, Salcombe. Sailing competitions in the estuary.
13th-15th: Kingsbeer Festival, Kingswear, More than 60 ales and ciders, local bands and steam train travel unite.
20th-28th: Arts and Crafts Exhibition. Stokenham Village Hall. 10am-6pm daily, except Sunday 10am-4pm.
21st: Lamb Pie Day, Buckfastleigh. Annual summer fair with music, food, entertain- ment and the lamb pie competi- tion.

Devon coast, Salcombe Crab Festival – or Crabfest – is an annual celebration of the local fishing, food and tourism indus- tries.
11th-13th: Dart Music Festival, Dartmouth. An annual three- day music festival now in its 20th year. Its ‘Music for All’ policy means over 100 performances spanning almost every musical genre throughout the town in a variety of lovely venues from pubs to churches – and it’s all free.
12th: Ivybridge 10K. Starting at Ivybridge station car park, this race attracts 775 runners every year. The race has been a fixture since 2003 and the scenic route is popular with both runners and spectators alike.
13th: Bowring s leigh Open Garden, West Alving ton, near Kingsbridge, 2pm-5pm. Bow - ringsleigh has beautiful, exten- sive gardens and grounds with a stunning backdrop of the Grade I-listed Elizabethan house. The gardens will be open for viewing, with teas, refreshments, plant and cake stalls. Free parking. Limited wheel chair access. Dogs on leads allowed. All funds raised are given to Children’s Hospice South West.
19th: Museums at Night, Kingsbridge Cookworthy Museum open evening and bar- becue.
25th: Party In The Town, Totnes. Performers come togeth- er in celebration of the town’s rich cultural life. Hosted by Dartington, there will be a packed programme of free musi- cal events in venues across Totnes.
26th-29th: Dartington Open Studios Arts Trail. Local artists open their studios and homes for
the visiting public to view and buy their art works. 10am-5pm.
25th-30th: BrixFest 2018. Grand firework display, dragonboat challenge, kids’ day, local live music and cooking demonstra- tions.
26th-27th: Brixham Heritage Sailing Regatta.
26th-28th: Malborough Scare - crow Trail. Trail forms will be on sale at the village hall each day. and refreshments will be avail- able.
27th: Blackawton International Festival of Worm Charming. George Inn, Blackawton. A quirky local event established in 1984. Worm charming, dog show, beer festival, stalls and more.
27th: Welly Beer Festival. Creek’s End, Kingsbridge. Devon beer, cider, gin tasting and live music. It all helps to raise funds for research into Motor Neurone Disease.
27th: Prawle Fair. The Pig’s Nose Inn, East Prawle. One of the most popular events in the South Hams. Starts 2pm.
27th-28th: Dartington Food Festival. A whole host of local star chefs and local producers.
28th: Kingsbridge Classic Car Rally. All makes and ages of classic cars on the Bank Holiday Monday.
June
1st-3rd: Kingsbridge Food & Music Festival. A three-day cele- bration will showcase local tastes and sounds.
2nd-3rd: Torbay Air Show. Breathtaking air displays over the stunning South Devon bay. 10th: South Hams Triathlon.
Now in its fourth year, this sprint distance triathlon offers a stun- ning course starting and finish- ing at Blackpool Sands beach.
10th: Longbow Canoe Festival. Totnes Rotary Club presents a family friendly event held at Longmarsh, Steamer Quay Road, Totnes, from 10am. Races start from midday.
16th: Brixham Trawler Race.
16th-17th: The Rock Watersports Festival, South Milton Sands. A weekend of canoeing, paddle- boarding, sit-on-top kayaks, wild swimming and more. 11am-5pm.
16th-17th: Kingsbridge Open Gardens. A rare chance to see beyond the garden gates.

6th-16th: Ways with Words Festival, Dartington. A vibrant and joyful 10-day festival of words and ideas in South Devon Set in the glorious Dartington Hall just outside of Totnes. People come together in spectac- ular surroundings to share the pleasure and power of language and ideas. The mission of the fes- tival is to “promote both the written and the spoken word”. 7th: South Brent Folk Day. Folk
21st-28th: Kingsbridge Fair Week. An action-packed week which sees the fun fair roll in to town and a programme of events, and live music on the town square and in other venues across the town. Starting with the crowning of the new fair queen, there follows and evening of fire- works, five-a-side football, teddy bears picnic, three-legged race, big quiz, boules, dog show plus a raft race and crab catching com- petitions. The week closes with a colourful carnival procession and lantern parade.
24th-28th: Shakes peare Week, Dartmouth. The Inn Theatre Company will be presenting A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the open air at the beautiful Dartmouth Castle – a stunning location for a stunning produc- tion.
25th: Yealmpton Show, Kitley Lawns. More than 300 stands, food and refreshments, with attractions in the main ring.
28th: Cornwood 4K Fun Run, starts 6.35pm.
28th-August 25th: International Summer School & Festival, Dartington. In the daytime, it functions as a summer school to musicians of a range of abilities, helping people to develop their creativity with expert tuition from world-renowned profes- sionals. In the evenings, the sum- mer school is transformed into a music festival with incredible performances by professional tutors and occasionally students too.
29th: Totnes & District Agri - cultural Show. Exciting demon- strations, displays and parades in the main ring; entertainment; sheep shearing competition. Sheep, cattle and horses compete for showing honours and show jumping. There’s a home and handicrafts marquee, craft tent, food hall and a large trade stands section, offering a wide choice of goods and services.
