Buckfastleigh
This charming edge-of-the-moor town, home to otters and butterflies, sends you on a magical steam journey, with friendly animals waiting at the end to welcome you
A fabulous feast of family entertainment
One of Devon’s most varied days out that really does offer some- thing for all the family has got to be the 3 Great Attractions 1 Amazing Day at Buckfastleigh and Totnes, where you and friends or family can
enjoy a fantastic, fun- filled day out. It’s a real treat and, with special price joint tick- ets, fantastic value too! 3 Great Attractions 1 Amazing Day is three top attractions all in one! Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies
is at Buckfastleigh; the award-winning Totnes Rare Breeds Farm is at Totnes; and running steam trains along the beautiful valley of the River Dart between the two is the award-win- ning South Devon Railway.
There’s so much to see and do: otters from around the world and stunning tropical but- terflies in natural sur- roundings; a one hour’s round trip behind a gleaming steam engine; and a chance to stroke the owls, feed the red squirrels and meet the friendly hedgehogs! And there’s even more to see and keep you and the family entertained. At Buck - fast leigh, there is a riverside walk, picnic area, gift and model shop, refreshments
rooms as well as a fas- cinating museum. The workshops, open on selected days, where the South Devon Railway rebuilds and repairs locomotives and steam engine boil- ers of all sizes, are well worth a visit. Here, you can learn what goes on behind the scenes to keep historic rolling stock running. Dartmoor Otters & Buckfast Butterflies is next door to the station at Buckfast leigh.
At Totnes, the Rare Breeds Farm, with its relaxing coffee shop, is
next to the steam rail- way station and both are short walk along a footpath from the main line and historic town centre.
You can visit each attraction separately or purchase great value joint tickets.
Buckfastleigh is where the main car park is, between Exe - ter and Plymouth on the A38. Leave at the Dart Bridge junction and follow the brown signs for the South Devon Railway. Dart - moor Otters & Buck - fast Butterflies is adja-
cent to South Devon Railway station. Satnav: TQ11 0DZ. If you are starting your journey from Totnes, the SDR sta- tion, Totnes Riverside and the Totnes Rare Breeds Farm are reached by footpath from Totnes main line station, less than 500 yards away, and the town centre where there are a number of public car parks.
