Salcombe One of the most picturesque towns you will ever see Come and explore our treasure trove

The home of paddleboarding

Enjoy one of life’s real adventures: paddleboard- ing in the most beautiful estuary in the South Hams with Salcombe Paddleboarding. Our tuition, kit hire and estuary tours are tailor-made for families, beginners and experi- enced boarders who want to fine tune their skills.

We provide everything you need for an unfor- gettable day on the water – from wetsuits and buoyancy aids to red boards, leashes and pad- dles. Group and family lessons cost from £35 per person. One-on-one tuition costs £80 for two hours.

Salcombe Paddling was established by Marcus Nolan and Denny Tolley. Marcus and Denny are fully qualified ISA Stand Up Paddleboarding Instructors and former profes- sional surf lifeguards. They combine their dedi- cation to safety with their love of paddleboard- ing in this area of outstanding beauty. All you have to do is stand up and enjoy the scenery. To book your paddleboard adventure email info@salcombepaddleboarding.com or call us on 01548 844142.

A hidden gem

The harder you search the more you will find in this friendly little museum. A treasure trove of models, paintings, photographs and artefacts that tell the story of Salcombe’s links with ships and the sea from ancient times to the Second World War when the US Navy was based in Salcombe.

There is plenty to amuse and engage younger visitors including hands-on displays, models and pirates’ treasure, in the ‘young sailors’ corner’. The Museum has a unique gallery of paintings depicting the famed racing fruit schooners built in Salcombe during the 19th century, and a superb collection of ship models.

Today Salcombe is a fash- ionable yachting centre but traditional boatbuilding crafts are still carried on in the town, and the Museum houses an impressive collec- tion of tools that tell the story of these maritime trades. For 2018, our special dis- play tells the tragic story of shell fishing and fishermen off the South Hams coast. Finally, don’t miss the sea-

bed treasures recovered by divers from the hundreds of shipwrecks that line our coast. Sal combe Maritime Mu -

seum is fun, entertaining and good value. Under 12s free, 12-18-year-olds 50p and adults £2.

Find us below the

Salcombe Tourist Infor - mation Centre in Market Street, between March 23 to October 30, 10.30am to 12.30pm, 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

Camping in a stunning location

Situated on a farm in an area of outstanding natural beauty close to the beautiful Salcombe Estuary, Higher Rew offers stunning rural views, a relaxed envi- ronment and good quality facilities to aid the enjoyment of your stay.

Bojangles is a small family-run business in the heart of Salcombe. For more than 10 years now we have been the place for children to come and spend their pocket money on gifts and holiday souvenirs. We sell a wide range of gifts, from fridge magnets to seaside shells and everything in between.

We also stock a beau- tiful variety of costume jewellery for all ages, alongside our stunning collection of silver jew- ellery.

So whether it be a thank you gift for the person looking after your cat or a keepsake

to remind you of your holiday in Salcombe, please come and see us. We are located in the right-hand side of Whitestrand Car Park, in the centre of town.

Three generations of the Squire family lov- ingly run and maintain this park, which is reflected in their four- star rating by VisitEngland and three AA flags, plus men- tions in the Lonely Planet and Rough Guides.

Terracing on the gently sloping park provides level pitches, with electric hook-up available at 74 of them.
