Mazars prepares for extensive audit contract
Ahead of the new financial year Mazars, an international accountancy and advisory firm, is preparing for 94 local Government external audit appointments in England. The external audit
appointments include councils, combined authorities, police forces, fire authorities and local Government pension funds. The new PSAA appointments will significantly increase its reach in the North West, East Midlands and London. Gareth Davies, Head of Public Services at Mazars, said: “We are delighted to have secured this extensive contract for local Government audit across the UK. Such a result through a competitive procurement process is a testament to the hard work of our team.”
New £1m drive to attract more European visitors
European visitors – especially from Germany – will be the main target of a £1m investment to bring more staying tourists to the Peak District, Derbyshire and the East of England. Official tourist board

Record period of growth for Foremost Security
Nottinghamshire-based security firm Foremost Security has been enjoying a particularly successful period and is hoping for more to come. In recent years, Foremost’s
services have been in high demand. The company now has 450 customers, compared to 130 four years ago, and the hope is that this figure will reach 1,000 over the next three years. Managing Director Paul Ritchie
said: “The growth we’re going through is outstanding. We’ve had so many highlights, such as increasing our key holding, night patrol, and security guard services, and we’re looking forward to having more success in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and surrounding areas.”

Employee wellbeing sets PKF Cooper Parry apart
The Sunday Times’ Best Companies has named PKF Cooper Parry as the 12th best place to work in the UK. The firm has also been awarded a special trophy for employee wellbeing. This result comes after two
consecutive top 100 finishes for the firm in previous years. PKF Cooper Parry climbed up the Best Companies table from 91st in 2016 to 32nd in 2017, and then up a further 20 places at this year’s awards. The firm is now the highest placed accountancy firm to work for in the UK by some distance.
The results were based on a Best
Companies Index, which took scores from a questionnaire completed by PKF Cooper Parry employees. This was then measured against eight factors of workplace engagement including wellbeing, leadership and relationships with managing staff. Employee satisfaction at PKF Cooper Parry ranked highly across all metrics. Offering perks like free career

Record results for Spearing Waite
The corporate team at Leicester law firm Spearing Waite has posted record results for 2017, advising on around £300m worth of transactions. The firm has seen revenues for
its corporate practice rise by 22% in the past 12 months. The firm advised on more than
30 transactions during 2017, including a £24m acquisition for pizza delivery firm Dominos. Its corporate team also advised
global technology group Freudenberg - which has a €8.6bn turnover - on its acquisition of a UK precision moulding company.
