A purpose for apprentices


Full-service marketing agency Purpose Media has used the recent National Apprenticeships Week to celebrate the successes of its apprentices – and launch its annual search for fresh talent. The Derbyshire firm, which


provides web development, ecommerce, design, branding, digital marketing, video, PR and content services, has employed 11 apprentices over the past ten years, eight of whom are still with the company. And it is now on the lookout for


three new recruits to join its growing team, including a digital marketing apprentice and two account management apprentices. The firm’s first apprentice was

senior management team, where he is responsible for looking after all its retained marketing clients. He said: “Purpose Media’s


apprenticeship scheme offers fantastic opportunities across the business. We commit a lot of time and effort into developing our apprentices into real assets for the team – and we’re always on the lookout for raw talent that can move up the ranks.” Other former apprentices who


have worked their way up into senior roles within the company include Head of Digital Marketing Mitch Brown, Project Manager Lewis Angell and Support Desk Manager Seb Wilson.


Purpose Media runs its own


apprenticeship scheme, which sees an annual intake of apprentices join. It is working with leading apprenticeships provider and Chamber member 3aaa to find its next batch of recruits. Managing Director Matt


Wheatcroft said: “We are firm believers in giving young people opportunities to succeed, because today’s apprentices are the business leaders of the future. “We’re always on the lookout for


the right people to join our growing team and anyone interested in finding out more about our apprenticeship scheme should get in touch.”


The UK’s largest independent auctioneer, John Pye, has announced a 24% increase in turnover from 2016 to 2017, making the past 12 months its most successful to date. The UK nationwide business


increased its number of sites, salerooms and bidders, continuing its stellar upwards trajectory as it marks its 50th Anniversary in 2018. Figures released by John


Pye show that from the end of 2016 to the end of 2017, the auction house has increased its number of online bidders by 16%, with sales up 25%. Turnover for its trading year, finishing 31 July 2017, was recorded at £13.2m, up 35.2% year-on-year, having been £9.8m a year prior. To accommodate growth


the firm has increased its UK sites by five and created 15 more salerooms. Managing Director Adam


Pye said: “Since 2011 we have experienced significant growth, previously unseen in the UK or European auction sector, but the 2016-2017 period has really shown unprecedented growth and this is down to the dedication and hard work of our team. “Already 2018 is shaping up to be another very busy year.”
