Independent mapping tool now available
• New data mapping tool launched • Standalone system – no tie-ins • Positive feedback from growers
U
K farmers can now benefi t from an independent de- cision support mapping tool called My Data Plant using Sentinel satellite imagery. Developed by Kleffmann
Group, the system enables grow- ers to visualise biomass variance within a fi eld to an accuracy of 5m x 5m. Users can then monitor bi- omass development throughout the season, says the company. The device monitors differenc-
es and changes within growing crops from the farm offi ce or mo- bile device – with biomass provid- ing an insight into crop health. Data generates variable rate fer- tiliser maps, based on desired average rates and tailored to fi eld conditions and crop poten- tial. Fertiliser map information can be downloaded onto a PC, tablet or smartphone or on to a USB stick which is compatible with most precision software on the tractor. Optimal, variable rates of fertiliser can then be ap- plied using precision applicators across the fi eld.
Intuitive portal “This innovation does not re- quire a specifi c farm size or ma- chinery because with the help of the intuitive web portal, it is pos- sible to tailor-make fertiliser re-
“
With just a few clicks, farmers can generate bespoke maps
quirements from your desk,” says Roger Pratchett of Independent Business Resource Lim- ited, Kleffman’s UK partner.
“It is also important we feel
to have an independent stand- alone system which is not di- rectly linked to any input or ser- vice manufacturer. With just a few clicks, farmers can generate bespoke maps of the farm. Advi- sors, agronomists or land agents can do the same for a number of their clients.”
The Kleffmann Group devel- oped the system with signifi cant farmer input and advice. Like any similar system, it works best when the data fed into the device is based on the situation on the ground, rather than theoretical statistics.
Precise information Head of product development Stephan Poppe says: “For the reg- ular process of our panel research methodology, precise information of the agricultural area is needed. The available offi cial statistics in many countries are often incom- plete or offer only limited infor- mation about cultivated area.” Mr Poppe adds: “The satellite
technology provides a solution to fi ll in the gaps and provides com- plete information with accurate generation of data. It also more importantly supports farmers in precision farming.” Kleffmann launched the sys-
tem at Agritechnica last autumn. Chief executive Bukhard Kleff- mann says: “We had positive feed- back from farmers at the fair. Nu- merous farmers registered for the tool there – from Germany and other European countries but also Indonesia, India and Brazil.”

Central Tyre Inflation saves time and money
Looking after the ground is a massive consideration for farm- ers and land owners alike. The potato and specialist root indus- try highlights the need for spe- cialised equipment to protect the land as much as the crop. With the land in mind, design- ers at HM Trailers – being farm- ers themselves – have put prac- ticality and fi t-for-purpose to the
top of the priority list and intro- duced Central Tyre Infl ation – an effi cient push-button system which delivers a fi eld friend- ly solution suitable for most as- semblies.
It gets fantastic performance
from fl otation tyres and minimis- es ground compaction. It takes only a matter of seconds to de- fl ate and re-infl ate tyres to the
required pressures, even on the move. The system delivers low- er rolling resistance and better fuel consumption in the fi eld and on the road.
This means longer life for
tyres. Growing interest in the product has prompted enquiries from other business sectors too, most recently from the forestry industry to explore the poten-
tial improvements it may bring to their operations. The HM Trailers CTI system
is available for use with single and twin line axle workings, and there is a choice of digital or ana- logue cab controls. Every trailer is built to order and can be tailored to suit your specifi c requirements. For details, call 01277 899604 or visit
