New generation BiG X launched
by Krone • Improved handling and suspension • Smoother, blockage-free operation • Less fuel needed per tonne of crop
K
rone’s BiG X range has grown by three following the launch of its new gen- eration state-of-the-art models – 680, 780 and 880 – with modi- fi cations and upgrades recently showcased on the 880 version at Agritechnica and LAMMA. The brand new cab lift feature is a world fi rst according to Kro- ne. At the touch of a button on the driver’s main console, the entire cab lifts by 70cm on a hy- draulic scissor lift. This signifi - cantly improves visibility over the crop and of the trailer driv- ing alongside.
All-round view of the new de- signed cab is aided by 360° mul- tiple wipers, one on the curved front windscreen, one on each side and one on the rear wind- screen.
The new BiG X 880 features the new mul- ti-tank concept so the customer can choose the tank concept that
is right for him from seven differ- ent variants, thus maximising fi ll capacities for long working days without stopping to refi ll.

Engine technology Power for the new generation BiG X 880 forage harvester comes from a Liebherr, Stage 4 / Final Tier 4 compliant engine. The BiG X 780 is available without emis- sion treatment technology and is exempt from European statutory emission standards because its output exceeds 560kW.

The BiG X can be used in maize, whole crop silage or grass.”
As standard, Krone uses six pre-compression rollers and Var- iStream to help deliver a smooth- er, blockage-free operation even in an uneven crop fl ow. Forager utilisation at the upper limit is maximised, with less fuel need- ed per tonne of crop harvested. The MaxFlow drum is avail- able on all foragers with the op-

tion of 20, 28 and 36 knives, giv- ing fl exibility to suit a wide range of chop lengths, for those opera- tors wanting a fi ner chop, typical- ly for AD plant, the BioGas drum offers 40 knives.
All Krone drums can be run with a half set of knives, doubling the maximum chop length. Kro- ne also utilises the VariQuick sys- tem to facilitate quick changeo- vers between the corn conditioner and the grass duct – so the BiG X can be used in maize, whole crop silage or grass. Particular focus has also been given to improving manoeuvra- bility of the new generation of BiG X, which has been achieved through independent wheel sus- pension. This makes for excellent handling and tight turns even in undulating fi elds.
Additional features as stand- ard on the new BiG X include SmartConnect for transparent data management as standard. This combines mobile radio, WiFi and GPS functionalities in one, al- lowing machine data to be trans- mitted to an iPad in the cab by WiFi.
Also fi tted as standard is the new 12 inch touchscreen control unit with USB and video input, which can display images of re- versing manoeuvres or images from the spout camera. Accessibility to the engine, ra- diator and crop fl ow components has been improved for easier maintenance, with features such as swivel access steps on the left side of the machine and detach- able mudguards on the rear axle. LED headlights and worklights are options.
