• Sunday 11th March, Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera: Duncan Williams talks about Scottish Opera’s new production of Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos and his role on it as repetiteur: a pianist who helps individual singers learn their parts, has the tricky job of imitating the orchestra in early rehearsals, and much more. 2.30 pm, Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling. Entrance £5, free to students.

• Monday 12th March The Annual Dunblane Lecture is at 7:30pm in the Victoria Hall. This year’s talk will be “Is Brexit Transforming British Politics?” by Sir John Curtice, Professor of Politics at the University of Strathclyde, President of the British Polling Council and a Fellow of the Royal Academy. Tickets which are £4 for members and £5 for visitors (incls. wine/soft drinks and small nibbles) can be purchased from Smallprint, Dunblane, at Civic Society and Local History Society meetings or at the door on the night. A warm invitation is extended to all who would like to come along. This lecture is organised jointly by the Civic Society and Local History Society.
• Sunday 18th March, Concert in the Cathedral, 3pm. Internationally acclaimed and locally loved guitarist Ayman Jarjour will play a programme of music that explores all the shades of colour and emotions that the classical guitar, brilliantly played, can evoke. • Monday 19th March, Dunblane Cathedral Guild at 2pm in the Cathedral Hall Drop-In for scrabble, jigsaw making, card games and tea/coffee and fellowship. All welcome.
• Wednesday 21st March, Dunblane Accordion & Fiddle Club, 7.30pm in the Victoria Hall. Guests will be Iain Cathcart, S.D.B. All players, any instrument, warmly welcomed.

Saturday 24th March, DDT, an open drop-in open session 2-5pm, Braeport Community Centre. Dunblane Development Trust welcomes all Braeport Centre users, supporters and other interested residents to learn about recent internal and external improvements to the centre. This is also an opportunity to participate in planning future structural/service developments and see what else the Trust is currently doing.
• Wednesday 4th April Dunblane and District Gardening Club at 2.00pm in the Cathedral Halls. Margaret and Andrew Lear of Perth “Plants with purpose & Appletreeman”. We hope they shall bring some plants to buy. Edible plants, Wildflowers and fruit. All welcome for a talk on different Plants followed by a cup of tea and a biscuit.. This will be our last talk of the season. Visitors £2.00
• Sunday 8th April, Forth Valley Friends of Scottish Opera: Peter France, Professor Emeritus of the University of Edinburgh, has written widely on French, Russian and comparative literature and has translated many Russian poets, from Pushkin to Pasternak. The title of his talk is Eugene Onegin: translating Pushkin into opera. 2.30 pm, Smith Art Gallery and Museum, Stirling. Entrance £5, free to students.

• Monday 16th April Dunblane Civic Society’s Spring Walk/Lunch Members are asked to meet at 10:00 in the car park at the rear of the Crieff Visitors’ Centre which is on the left side of the A822 (just passed the Stuart Crystal building which is on the other side of the road). The circular walk which will be led by Ken Walker is on level ground and follows the river Earn for part of the way. Walk is expected to take 2/2.5 hours. More details will be given at the February meeting. Members who are coming for lunch only please arrive at the Visitors’ Centre by 12:15 approx. Tom tel. 822400.

• Monday 16th April, Dunblane Cathedral Guild at 2pm in the Cathedral Hall when we will be instructed on how to “Get Moving” by a Pilates teacher, even whilst sitting in our chairs, so come along and get ideas for a fitness routine we can all do at home! All welcome.
