Support for change Securing the Dunblane Centre legacy
The Dunblane Centre provides a vital local service and we need your help to ensure that this valued community resource remains viable. The Dunblane Centre is a purpose-built community Centre which opened in 2004 using money donated following the tragic incident at Dunblane Primary School. Our facilities are used every week by over 750 local people of all ages and abilities. We have early years activities, sports and fi tness classes, performing arts, youth clubs and social events for senior citizens. Our young people remain at the heart of the Dunblane Centre and some families visit every day. If the Centre was not here, they would have no aff ordable local alternative to the many activities and classes that we off er.
Recent analysis indicates it costs £5,250 per week to keep the Dunblane Centre open. Income generated is not covering our costs, there is no statutory funding and we rely on donations and support from our local community, to use the facilities off ered, to attribute income to support costs. I am currently working with the trustees and management team to identify savings, without it impacting on the service or reputation of the Centre. It remains our ethos that the Dunblane Centre can be accessed by every member of our community, and that the price of activities is kept as low, as is possible. It is with regret therefore, that some of our activities will require a small price increase. However, cost should never be a barrier to participation, and this will continue to be our ethos.
One way you can help is to volunteer. We already have a few volunteers who help out, but we could use more. Are you able to spare a couple of hours to help us with events, maintain our lovely garden, help in the café area serving teas and coff ees, or help with admin? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
Are you a local business that could sponsor an event or supply us with goods or services in kind that would help us reduce our costs and enhance our services? Can you nominate us as your Charity of the Year? Are you employed by a company that you think may support us? If so, please get in touch.
Regular donations or major gifts – every single pound is gratefully received so you can make that diff erence. Please think about the Dunblane Centre when organising a charitable activity, Pamela is jumping out of an aeroplane in March to support Performing Arts!! Now we don’t expect that, but you could sign us up for easy fundraising when you buy online. If interested in making a regular donation or fi nding out about our big development projects, then come in and have a coff ee and a chat.
I look forward to seeing you.
