“We’re really developing productive synergies,”


stressed Said. “We’re always focused on new products and services, but we’re also really focused on how we fulfill orders—it’s something in development. Before last year, everything pretty much (all electric chain hoists and cranes) came out of our Manheim facility, but we recently expanded our facility in Elizabethtown (Pennsylvania), and tripled the size—moving all hoist manufacturing there. We’re also renovating our Manheim facility—to dedicate it solely to our bridge crane manufacturing and specialty systems, which has been a little painful for customers because we’ve also implemented our new MRP software. “But when we’re done with this, we’ll come out much leaner and able to produce a lot more custom products out of our Manheim facility, while not affecting our standard catalog products. So that’s probably the biggest thing we’ve been working on in the past year: upgrading our MRP, making it easier for the customer to do business with us, and launching an e-commerce site soon.”


Ultimate Goals And then there was the 150-year celebration last year. “It could be argued that Harrington started the electric chain hoist industry,” Said noted. “Te heart of the industrial revolution was in Philadelphia—so this anniversary means the world to the company. We had an event each month last year involving either our workforce, the community, local charities, or our loyal customers to celebrate this milestone. “When you look at this company, folks have
