nthony Jarman from Tonbridge, is launching a new fi lm festival in London, screening a series of fi lms that emulate the annual moods of the

seasons. Anthony, Founder of Green Owl Films, a production company specialising in inspirational storytelling, previously curated the Lantern Media Festival in Tunbridge Wells between 2008-2010 and has now teamed up with media and events company Holmlands to launch the Four Seasons Film Festival. Anthony, 32, said: “Film is in my DNA. Launching the Lantern Film Festival in Kent was a watershed moment for me and ever since I’ve felt the desire to take that experience and create an original fi lm festival experience on a

bigger and better scale. We’ve applied a narrative to the festival by categorising fi lms into spring, summer, autumn and winter sections – refl ecting themes of hope, celebration, difference and truth respectively, which sets us apart from other festivals. “Ultimately, we want to showcase

great, inspirational content with the aim of helping independent fi lm-makers gain greater recognition for their work.” Four Seasons Film Festival takes place at Cadogan Hall in Sloane Square, London, on 3rd and 4th February in a weekend that will also boast live music performances, photography and art exhibitions – including the photographic work of visually-impaired medal-winning skier and keen photographer, Millie Knight from Canterbury.

Tunbridge Wells artist on show in new local gallery

Local artist Vivien Oldfi eld is exhibiting at G&C Gallery in Camden Road, Tunbridge Wells, until 25th February,

where her work will be displayed alongside other local artists in the elegant new gallery.

Having studied textile design

at West Surrey College of Art & Design, Vivien worked in PR for many of Kent’s top visitor attractions before focusing on digital art and photography. “Each digital print is created

from several images, layered and blended using a mix of textures and techniques,” explained Vivien, who is inspired by the gardens and coastline of Kent and Sussex, which she photographs throughout

The festival is also offering up eight awards, as Anthony explains: “So much blood, sweat and tears go into the whole creative process, we want to acknowledge and recognise that by offering a number of awards as part of the event – which include an award for each season.”

Anthony continues: “Growing up in Kent and making short fi lms in the local area as a teenager and beyond gave me the platform to go on and develop a career within the fi lm-making industry. To be working with so many creative fi lm- makers is incredible, where we will be screening nine feature fi lms and 60 short fi lms over the festival weekend.” • Tickets for Four Seasons Film Festival are now on sale. the seasons. “The fl oral composites combine intricate detail, bold shapes and vibrant colour, while the semi- abstract prints evoke visits to the coast and countryside.”

G&C Gallery opened back in October 2017 and showcases exciting new work from a variety of established and emerging artists. Gallery owner Cicely Yang said: “I wanted to create a gallery that supports local talent alongside national and international artists in a welcoming environment. Hopefully our new group exhibition will demonstrate our commitment to these values.” • For further information on G&C Gallery, visit www.gcgallery.co.uk or call 01892 532638.
