Classics under the hammer, calls for drivers to have regular eye tests, plus switch to lower emissions and save money!

S

pecialist auction house Silverstone Auctions will host a total of nine competition and classic car sales in

2018 including a new, dedicated Ferrari sale to take place at Silverstone circuit.

In one of several changes to the auction house’s calendar, Silverstone Auctions will collaborate with the prestigious Ferrari Owners’ Club of Great Britain to host its inaugural, Ferrari only sale on Friday 18th May, ahead of its annual May sale the following day. Silverstone Auctions will

host its fi rst sales of 2018 at the Race Retro International Historic Motorsport Show at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, when a limited number of best of breed cars from road and track will be offered a dedicated competition car sale at a classic and sports car sale on 23rd- 25th February.

In 2017, Silverstone Auctions

offered more than 600 cars at auction with a total sales fi gure of more than £24 million. • For more information on entering a car into any of Silverstone Auctions’ upcoming sales, visit www. silverstoneauctions.com/selling

It’s a shocking fact that more than one million drivers are on the road illegally with bad vision. According to recent research carried out by Confused.com over 9,000 drivers had their licence revoked or application refused by the DVLA in 2016 as their eyesight did not meet required standards. There are calls by experts urging drivers to have an eye test every 10 years. Without the correct prescription, motorists may have trouble judging distance, depth and could miss cars, cyclists and pedestrians in their wider fi eld. Many opticians offer free tests for fi rst-time customers and drivers with an eye condition should always notify their insurer to ensure they are covered should they need to make a claim.

Scrap & save SEAT UK has extended its scrappage incentive scheme until 31st March 2018, encouraging owners of older cars to switch to lower-emission Euro 6 compliant new cars. The scheme enables owners of any diesel vehicle that complies with pre-Euro 5 emissions legislation to qualify for the SEAT scrappage incentive. As a result, they can trade-in their relevant car to receive between £1,500- £3,500 towards a new SEAT model (see table, right) if the vehicle is

registered by 30th June 2018. All new SEAT petrol and diesel cars meet the latest Euro 6 emissions standards, currently the most stringent yet.
