Flying Fish Brewing Company in Somerdale, NJ
South Jersey offers much to see and do, from historically significant landmarks and Main Streets to an exploding local culinary and craft beverage industry. It's no surprise that this area’s offerings and experiences are attractive to both tourist and business groups alike.
The tourism industry in South Jersey has enjoyed a whopping 35 percent growth since 2010. This increase can be tied to the emergence of region’s wineries and vineyards. Over the past five years, Visit South Jersey has helped to redefine South Jersey as a wine and culinary desti- nation through grassroots marketing and development efforts, which included the formation of three wine trails in the region, referred to as Vintage South Jersey (
vintagesouthjersey.com). This region is part of the Outer Coastal Plain American Viticultural Area (AVA).
Featuring more than 30 wineries and commercial vineyards, the Outer Coastal Plain AVA is situ- ated between Philadelphia, PA and the Jersey Shore and encompasses more than 2.25-million acres in the heart of South Jersey suited to growing dozens of fine wine varietals.
Still, another significant part of this boom has been the result of business travel, with groups drawn to the area for its convenience, capacity, and variety of business and hospitality offerings.
