Try making exercise part of your daily routine rather than launching into an activity that requires a Herculean effort
Ask your pharmacist to recommend
products that may help, including pain relief medicines, hot and cold packs, compression bandages and sports supports.
2. To lose weight If you overindulged during the festive season, you may want to drop a dress size or two in time to look good in time
for summer. Losing excess weight can also lower your risk of health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, Type 2 diabetes, some types of cancer, infertility, osteoarthritis, back pain and depression. The problem with resolutions for
losing weight, however, is that many of them are unrealistic and hard to achieve.
How to stick with it This year, start by making one small change to your diet rather than lots of big ones. You could, for instance, decide to have one extra portion of fruit or veg a day to make your diet healthier overall, or to cut out the couple of biscuits you usually have with your morning coffee. Then when that change becomes a habit, make another small change – and so on. The more realistic the change, the more likely you’ll be to stick to it in the long term. Denying yourself any kind of treats
can backfire too. So look for snacks that are healthy but make you feel you’re indulging yourself at the same time, such as a small tub of low-fat Greek yoghurt with fresh fruit salad or strawberries dipped in dark chocolate. And if you do have a bit of a slip-up
remind yourself you’re allowed the occasional cheat day and go back to eating healthily tomorrow.
