Celebrity New Year resolutions
Even the rich and famous make them. Here are four celebs and the various resolutions they've each made in an attempt to boost their health and wellbeing
They’ve got it all. The lifestyle, the looks, the career, the impressive bank balance… But it seems celebrities are just like the rest of us when the New Year comes around, with many of them vowing to improve their health. Here are some celebrity New Year resolutions from Spice
Girl turned fashion designer Victoria Beckham, Oscar- winning actor George Clooney, comedian and TV host Ellen DeGeneres, and best-selling author Helen Fielding.
Victoria Beckham “To continue eating healthy things, like Japanese food, lots of fish, any sort of fish, any sort of vegetable, lots of fruit – that sort of thing.” Eating more healthily is on many of our New Year’s
resolutions list, most likely because we tend to eat too much rich food and too many sweet treats over the festive season. Victoria Beckham, however, is already known for eating very healthily, so you can bet she gets her Five A Day. “I like to eat healthily,” she says. “I think I watch it because I
have to, because I get photographed. And I think it’s not just because of how you look, I think it’s good for your health to eat as much fresh fish as you can and vegetables.” Victoria also has another very good reason for watching
what she and her husband, former England international footballer David, eat. “We want to stay healthy for our children, not just because of how we look in front of the camera,” she says.
6 All About health The British fashion guru doesn’t just watch what she eats,
she’s also very active. “I run every day – I like to run,” says Victoria, who
allegedly took up running to lose the baby weight after having her daughter Harper, now six years old, the youngest of her four children. “I get to the gym about 8.45am and I run for 45 minutes. I
run on the treadmill. I just go to the gym and do my thing. Then I start work for the day until I need to go and pick up the children.”
George Clooney “To learn to speak fluent Italian. Actually, I’m taking lessons. It’s so frustrating. Three days a week a guy comes over to teach me – and when he leaves, I don’t know any Italian.” Despite having spent much time over the years at his
holiday home in Northern Italy’s Lake Como, the actor – who became a father of twins last year with his wife Amal – admits his Italian is still “horrible”. “Don’t ask me about my Italian, please,” he says when
asked how well he speaks the language. However, being in Italy has taught him a different way of life. “I think people in Italy or in Europe in general live their
lives better than we [Americans] do,” he says. “When it comes to dinner and lunch it’s a whole celebration, whereas in America we sort of eat as quickly as we can. Italians taught me how to appreciate a good meal and enjoy time.”
