Customers at Vibes Sports Bar in Hartlepool can now enjoy their sports and leisure in a colourful new environment. North East PDA Member John Kerry teamed up with fellow professional painter and decorator Adam Featherstone of Adam Featherstone Decorating Services to make sure the bar opened for pulling pints on time! John and Adam had to make
sure that the redecoration was completed within the timescale allotted and with the added pressure of handing the pub back on Friday lunchtimes for weekend opening. This meant 13 days of exhausting 12 to 14 hour shifts with work starting from 6am on Monday mornings. John said, “We had to plan the
work so the bar could open at weekends as they could not afford to lose out too much on sales. We
also had to work with other trades in the refurbishment, which as fellow decorators will know is always a bit of fun (not!) for us decorators!” The job involved stripping all the walls and making good
ready for some striking 3D effect wallpaper from Interiors Today 3D Collections. Crown Clean Extreme Emulsion was used on the walls in dark grey and matched with a complementary lighter grey in Tikkurilla Optiva 5 on the ceilings and coving, which were airless spray finished. The wood work was finished in
Tikkurila Helmi 30 and Dulux Trade Quick Drying Satinwood, doors were finished in Little Greene oil based eggshell. John concluded, “We could not
be happier with the final outcome, it's freshened up the dated and tired, busy Marina sports bar.”
