Celebrations at opening of new Plymouth Office

TO CELEBRATE THE official opening of their new Plymouth office, a team of Ian Williams employees and directors recently took to their bikes and raised £5,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity. The two-day challenge started out from the company’s head office in Chipping Sodbury, South Gloucestershire and saw the team cover 145 miles with approximately 5,000 feet of climbing each day, before reaching the new Plymouth office in time for the official opening. Ian Williams’ Executive Director Mike Turner, who took part in the challenge

commented, “Setting off under the cloud of Storm Ophelia wasn’t the most auspicious of starts, but fortunately we avoided the worst of the weather! The team morale was spurred on by a great support team and some much welcomed refreshments enroute. But perhaps most motivating, was the fact we were doing it to raise money for a cause that’s close to the Plymouth office’s team hearts. “Support was overwhelming and we were delighted to hit our target which

we donated to Katie Mosses from the charity. The official opening was also attended by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Wendy Foster who officially cut the ribbon on our new offices.

“From a commercial perspective, the opening of the new Plymouth office was

an important day for Ian Williams and represents a three quarters of a million pound investment. We opened our first office in Plymouth in the late 1960’s as a result of our work for the Ministry of Defence and have since become a major employer in the region, improving the quality of housing, schools, colleges and the university, the hospital, care homes, civic offices, shops, leisure facilities, community centres and even the Dockyard. Our work has touched the lives of many people in Plymouth and assisted in economic growth and regeneration, educational attainment, healthier living and happiness. “Above all we have facilitated the creation of opportunities for people living

and working in the region. This recent investment in the new office will ensure that we will continue to do so for many years to come.”

Lending a Paintbrush to the Community

BAGNALLS PAINTERS, AND volunteers from the local community and Riverside Housing staff, all donned their overalls to transform Burnside Community Centre in just one week.

Kenny Halsall, long standing Foreman at

Bagnalls, and previous winner of Dulux Trade Most Trusted Contractor Painter, supervised all aspects of the internal and external works. Thankfully the weather was

kind and allowed them to fit in the external decorations as well as the planned internals, during a busy week. The Centre, which re-opened the at

the end of the week, was a buzz of activity with many of the groups who run events during the week coming together to promote their activities. With all the fun of a raffle, buffet and

a special visit from the Mayor and Mayoress of Rochdale, they could not have had better day. Everyone involved had a fantastic time seeing

the transformation take place and special thanks go to Kenny and Brian for training people in paint application, Dulux Trade for the kind donation of paints and Riverside Housing for allowing Bagnalls to demonstrate their commitment to social value.
