Pregnancy hair MM

When you’re a new mum, you’ll find that time is so precious! You simply will not have the time you used to have to spend on things like your hair, and quite understandably!

Time-saving tips for new mums!

Andrew Watson Andrew Watson Hairdressing

It only makes sense that you will want to cut corners, however, you will still want to feel and look good….and no-one deserves a little pamper more than a new mum! So we’ve put together a few tips to keep on top of your hair with low maintenance. Firstly, a professional hair dryer is without

a doubt the best investment you can make in saving time when it comes to your hair. A professional hair dryer will have more

power, dramatically speeding up drying time. It also gives a smoother finish, reducing the temptation to reach for the straighteners to style. There is a good price range out there, which means you don’t necessarily have to fork out too much! A great yet affordable brand is Diva,

winner of The Best Hair Dryer in the 2015 Hair Awards. Many of the Diva dryers come with four heat and two speed settings, allowing you to tailor styling for your hair type. With heat being one of the biggest reason for damage, try where possible to stick to a lower heat, particularly in processed or already damaged hair. The ionic conditioning of Diva dryers

eliminate frizz and static, delivering sleek results. You’ll also notice the extra length to the swivel cord on a professional dryer! Using a blow dry spray or oil, such as

Moroccanoil, will also speed up drying time and act as a styling and finishing aid, never

mind giving the hair added protection from any thermal damage. Dry shampoo will be a lifesaver in those

times of need when you just don’t have the time to wash and dry your hair! While it’s no secret that dry shampoo isn't exactly the healthiest thing to add to your hair, it will freshen it up and add a bit of oomph. Moroccanoil Dry Shampoo contains

ultra-fine, oil-absorbing rice starch that removes buildup and odour, leaving hair instantly clean and refreshed. Its UV-protecting, argan oil-infused formula breaks down instantly, leaving no dull residue The Moroccanoil dark tones dry

shampoo avoids that ‘talc’ or ‘grey’ look, maintaining the natural richness of dark, brunette tones. For blondes, the light tones dry shampoo provides subtle violet undertones to balance brassiness in blonde hair and brings out the best in light tones. The trick to using dry shampoo is to give

it a minute to dry after spraying. then massage into scalp as you would with wet shampoo, before brushing out. With regards to keeping on top of

your colour; the easiest colour style to maintain just happens to be bang on trend…balayage! A great balayage will grow out nicely, meaning you won’t need those frequent root touch-ups at the salon. A good shampoo and conditioner will also lengthen the time you get out of your colour.

Check the product is sulphate and

paraben free as both of these chemicals will attack your colour, causing it to fade up and fade up fast! Many shampoos advertised as ‘colour saving’ still contain these nasty chemicals. The money you spend on a good shampoo will be more than made up for when your salon colour visits become less frequent! We also love a range called Pigments.

These shampoos and conditioners can be made up in salon or at home with your ‘pigment’…acting as a toner which means you can keep colours vibrancy easily at home with no more than a simple hair wash! They will also hydrate and repair

damaged hair, leaving it glossy. And if you do have an extra FIVE minutes for a little pamper..leave the pigment mask on for five minutes to deepen the condition and strength of your hair.
