Car seat safety is vital for both you and your child when you’re travelling. But just how do you ensure that you’re not only using the correct seat, but that it’s properly fitted?
First of all, using a car seat is a requirement by law. All children in either the front or rear of a vehicle must use the correct car seat for their age or weight until they are either 135cm in height or twelve years old, so it’s vitally important that you choose the safest and most practical seat that you can find. Never, ever purchase a second-hand car
seat. On top of the fact that there could be parts missing, the seat may have been involved in an accident and will therefore not meet the safety standards required. You, as the driver, are totally responsible for the safety of your passengers and so the onus is on you to ensure that you have a regulation seat and that it is correctly fitted.

RSA has teamed up with Toyota to provide a free of charge ‘Check it Fits’ service at Toyota dealerships and other locations across Ireland. By just popping along to any of the relevant
