Upton In Bloom Judges Visit – 4th July!

The South and South East in Bloom judges will be touring the town on Tuesday 4th July from 11am. The likely route is as follows (heavily prescribed by the time available), part by car, part by foot:

South Lytchett Manor Caravan Park → Dorchester Road → Redwood Road → Upton Woods → Yarrells School → Town Centre Area → Upton Cross/Dairy Park homes → Maple Lodge → Lytchett Bay View → Allotments → Frenches Farm → Recreation Ground → Town Council Offi ces.

We appreciate that there may be residents not on the route, who have good or interesting front gardens. If so, if you would like the judges to be made aware, please drop a photograph into the Town Council Offi ces, and we can use it in the initial presentation made to the judges.

PS: we are seeking a GOLD award this year for the judges overall impression of the town. Can you help by making our town look as good as possible?

Ray Griffin Upton In Bloom

Partners And Communities Together (PACT)

While this is not a high crime area, crime and anti-social behaviour have fi gured very strongly in surveys about issues concerning local residents.

PACT gives Upton and Lytchett Minster residents the chance to tell the police and town councillors about the safety and crime issues causing concern within the community. This process helps determine priorities for action for the police and council.

Meetings are held every two months between the PACT panel and neighbourhood police and members of the public are welcome to attend. The challenges facing the police can be unpredictable and any help the public can offer is appreciated.

People can report concerns either direct to the police or to PACT Chairman, Stephen Link (stephen.link99@hotmail.co.uk).

Problems reported in recent weeks include: • excessive speeds on local roads • inconsiderate parking

• doorstep/telephone/online scams • break-ins/tool theft from vehicles/sheds/garages

Next meeting: 7pm, Wednesday 19th July, Church Lounge, Upton Community Centre, Poole Road.
