P1 trip to the Zoo

P1 went to Edinburgh Zoo as part of their Animals Context for Learning. The children were lucky enough to see a Panda and they got to hold lots of different animals at an animal handling workshop. This is what the children enjoyed the most: “My favourite part was seeing the Koala Bears.” Isla “I liked the monkeys because they were swinging.” Calum “I liked seeing the Koalas and having a picnic on the grass.” Lara “My favourite part was having some free time to explore the animals in our groups” Emily “I liked seeing the penguins and their eggs.” Jess “I liked seeing the different types of penguins.” Matthew W.

Transition – Oliver and Daisy P7

We are at the time of year where there are lots of transitions happening in the school, the nursery children are getting ready to join Primary 1 and the Primary 7 children have left us to move on to the High School. In June we asked some of the Primary 7 children to share with us their experience of transition at Dunblane High School, here are their thoughts…

We have been going to transitions at Dunblane High School to prepare us for starting after the summer. So far we have gone 5 times since the start of the year and we have done lots of activities and subjects such as: Maths, P.E, English, French, Mandarin, Art, Science, Modern studies, ICT and more. On Thursday the 1st June we found out the classes we will be in when we start High School then we worked in these classes for the last 3 transition days to get to know the others that will be in our class. During the transitions we were taken to each class by pupils from S5. We have made lots of new friends from other schools and have enjoyed meeting pupils from Newton, St. Marys, Doune, Bridge of Allan and Menstrie. We have been learning how to put money on our lunch cards and have found out about the correct school uniform for High School and we need to wear blazers. We are really looking forward to being in a bigger school, having more independence and meeting new people.

Health Fortnight – Kara P4 42

Health Fortnight is two weeks of sporting and healthy activities at Dunblane PS. Over the two weeks classes got to experience tasters of fencing, rugby, football, athletics, badminton, dance and many, many more! We also had a visit from the Royal Highland Educational Trust who taught us about farming and different produce. We completed a healthy snack challenge and used the Travel Tracker to measure how different pupils got to school in the morning. We would like to say a huge thank you to all the local clubs and businesses that supported us in this. One of the highlights of the Fortnight was the Fruit Bugs made and sold by the P3s each day – the whole school loved them! “I loved designing the fruit bugs because I had to use lots of different fruits, my favourite was a ladybird because it had apples, raisins and two grapes.” – Emma P3M
