Dunblane Centre NEwsletter

Message from Gemma, Centre Manager

How fast does time fl y? I have been the Centre Manager here for 5 years and can still remember clearly writing my fi rst Wire piece. Some of you may know that I am moving on from the Centre to take up a new position at Stirling University. It is with great sadness that I step down from my role as Manager of the Dunblane Centre. I have loved the fi ve years that I have been here and cannot thank the community enough for all the support, encouragement and laughter. In my fi rst Wire piece I made reference to what a special place the Centre is and fi ve years on I echo that thought and it will forever hold a special place in my heart. I won’t be a stranger and will drop in but now I hand over the reins.

Thank you to the trustees, staff and volunteers as well as the wider community for making this a great place to work. I wish the new Manager all the very best of luck and wish all the best to the Centre and its supporters.

Dunblane Centre Youth News

It’s been a busy couple of months at the Centre for youth stuff and there’s lots more coming up! Firstly, the Easter programme was so much fun... melted crayon art, a trip to clip and climb, gymnastics, circus skills and funky science were all big hits! Included in this edition is the summer programme, have a look and see if there’s anything you fancy doing… don’t hang around though, activities are already fi lling up!

As part of the Fling weekend, the Centre also hosted Glow! – a glow in the dark disco for everyone in P1 – P7. We sold over 100 tickets and had an awesome night of dancing. Thanks to everyone who came and we hope you had as much fun as we did!

We’ve also bought some new toys for the Centre. We have a new basketball game, a 7ft air hockey table, some garden games and we’ve had our pool table recovered. These, along with the PS4 / Xbox and computers are available to use for throughout the summer. If you’re over eight, you can drop into the Centre for up to two hours a day - if the sports hall’s free, you can use that too. It’s just £1.00 per person and free if you’re a member! Throughout the holidays myself and Nathan (from Dunblane Christian Fellowship) will also be out and about around Dunblane: most likely around the astro and the Laighills, if you see us, come and say hello!

Finally, in August, our fabulous Show in a Week is back once again with our production of Cats! By far the busiest and craziest week of the Centre’s year, Show in a Week will once again achieve the impossible and raise the performance bar with over 170 people on stage. We’re very excited and can’t wait to greet everyone on Monday morning of show week… it’s going to be amazing! Remember, you can keep up to date with youth stuff at the Centre by following our Instagram feed.
