ISSUE 192

JUNE 2017

June = summer, right? And summer means music festivals, and BBQ’s and beers outside til late, and lounging about on grass, and the beach and fancy schmancy cocktails. Hoorah! I smell suntan lotion, so shorts at the ready, kids – we’re heading out for the summer.

There are loads of exciting seasonal goings on out of doors this month – Red Rooster and Norwich Food & Drink Festivals, Chapelfield’s Bierfest, the bungee jump at The Forum and bandstand concerts in our parks which I know you’ll be making the most of. Check out our Festival Guide for the deets on the last ever Secret Garden Party and a brand new festival at The Gunton Arms, plus win tickets to see Kurupt FM, Craaaaaaig David and Pendulum at Sundown. We went out on the streets to peep at your fresh garms – see the results in Clothesline. And because the tropical vibes were taking a proper hold of us we took a trip down Caribbean-way to Turtle Bay and ate our weight in good food. Yummo. Oh, also we spoke to some stonemasons about what that’s all about. All bases covered, natch.

But don’t forget that there’s still a number of rad gigs on this month after the sun goes down - from Shaggy to Take That via The Flaming Lips there’s something for everyone. We’ve spoken to local singer Leaone ahead of his EP launch, Japanese noise- makers Melt-Banana, poet Harry Baker and Addictive TV amongst others this month, as well as more on our website.

Pls people. Don’t you forget to go and do a big clever vote on June 8th, will you? Promise me now. We went out and asked some Norwich youths about laws they like for Say Whaaat and they seem to know their nuclear power from their NHS so let’s all hope for a good result. Fingers crossed eh.

Norwich, our future’s so bright, we’ve gotta wear shaaaaades. 10.
