2017 FESTIVAL GUIDE
SECRET GARDEN PARTY 20-23 JULY
HUNTINGDON, CAMBRIDGESHIRE
Boom! It’s the ultimate and final hedonistic celebration of music and fun in the Cambridgeshire countryside, an hour and half’s drive from Norwich. It started with 500 friends gathering at the bottom of a garden and has grown exponentially since then. This year’s theme is fame and celebrity. Music wise get down to Metronomy, Crystal Fighters, Toots & The Maytals, Wild Beasts, Peaches, Honne, Jagwar Ma, The Moonlandingz and a motherload of amazing DJ’s. Check out Where The Wild Things Are, a stage formed from trees, or The Pagoda, which floats on the edge of the beautiful lake. The Collisillyum might be tricky to say but impossible not to enjoy, with games and challenges throughout the day and superstar DJ’s by night. Head to The Lost Woods to get underground with some proper techno, disco and house, or if afrobeat, funk and hip hop are more your bag, pop into the Chai Wallas tent. There’s guerrilla science, Little Gay Brother to tickle your pickles with cabaret and high jinks, naked yoga, a yurt sauna and superhero workouts. If you’ve never experienced the wild joys of Secret Garden Party, then go this year or always wish you’d gone. Max larks.

THE GUNTON FESTIVAL OF FOOD & MUSIC 05 AUGUST
THE GUNTON ARMS, THORPE MARKET
This brand new one day festival is a celebration of food, music and drink. Located near Cromer in the beautiful village of Thorpe Market, the whole shebang is based at The Gunton Arms, a rock n roll hunting lodge in a deer park. Renowned for its spectacular menus, using local ingredients, there will be some tasty treats available on the day including jerk chicken, spiced lamb pittas, veggie dishes and the Gunton venison burgers and hot dogs. Mmmmm. Music wise there’s a healthy handful of good time bands like The Vagaband and The Black Sharks who are bound to get those limbs moving, alongside lounging tunes from DH78 and Lucy Grubb. Headliners Kitty, Daisy & Lewis will be wowing the crowds with their timeless swing bangers – their fans include Dustin Hoffman, Mick Jones and David Lynch. Wowee! This day of (hopefully) sunshine, delicious food and drink, friends and rock n roll is bound to be a winner, and in fact tickets are already selling so well they’re expanded their capacity to fit everyone in. It runs noon til midnight, and tickets are just £22 so get in on the Gunton Arms’ debut.
