oday, cybersecurity affects each one of us on multiple levels. Our work, our personal lives, even our vehicles, all depend on some form of connectivity and technology that runs on complex software, transmitted through wire


and the very air we breathe. As information technology becomes increasingly integral to operating our school bus, student, driver, and maintenance management programs, our dependency on con- nected information systems grows. In the past few years we have seen a significant investment by


school bus OEMs in offering purchasers of new buses the “connected” school bus. In turn, some operators have expressed concern that we may be setting up the possibility for an increase in vulnerabilities and potential attacks against those systems. As school bus manufacturers took a leap into the future with semi-autonomous systems, they also took steps to secure those vehicle systems.
