Mooneyham said the Z Pass system has dramatically reduced incidences of missing students. “Tis program also allows the district to track the school bus for on-time performance concerns, monitor diagnostic issues, speed and other points,” he added. For the bus garages, Hunter engineering shop equipment has enhanced CFISD’s ability to provide a safer bus, while also cutting expenses. For instance, Mooneyham said it provides data on tire costs and shows how alignment and wheel balancing equipment can cut costs dramatically when they are purchased. “Tis has allowed me to implement a program for balancing every tire, and aligning every bus when steering or suspension repairs are completed,” Mooneyham said. While fuel purchases have traditionally been the district’s highest expense, tires run a close second. However, Mooneyham said the new program “has dropped tires down to the third most-costly expense.” “Te Collective Data fleet software program that was (installed) in 2016 has allowed me to track other expenses and productivity costs,” he said. In particular, he explained that, “this shows me what is occurring with parts and service.” He stressed that, “All of these programs, equipment and systems,
allow CFISD to save taxpayer dollars and provide reliable school buses. After all, without the shop operation, there would be no movement of students to and from school,” Mooneyham concluded.
