Tese stakeholders include parents, adminis- trators, employees, and even local and state politicians, who will want to use the school’s crises as an opportunity for facetime, and to offer a public apology as well as an intent to make sure it never happens again. ing parents, employees and administrators should be sufficient, he added. “Find out what reporter covers your district from the news media,” said Gissen- daner, a former Phoenix-area newspaper reporter and a frequent contributor to School Transportation News. “Develop a relationship with these people ahead of time. Help them get acquainted with how your department works. Tey’ll appreciate it, and then in the event of a crisis, they aren’t like a stranger coming up to talk to you.”

Tere should be training ses- sions for transportation personnel and building-level administrators.” Hibbert said a good crisis plan will include a role for an administrator to respond to the scene of any incident with personal injuries, in addition to the transportation director and other staff who will help the bus driver. “Discuss what the plan is if they have a
