n October three members of the Classic Car Weekly team each arrived at the Museum in a classic car they had reportedly bought for around £500 and attempted the Test Hill. The cars fared pretty well on the ascents, which were followed by the obligatory group shot on the Banking. The cars they used were a Ford Puma, a Mazda MX-5 and a Rover Metro. The lucky drivers were Richard Kirkpatrick, Murray Scullion and Callum Brown. The article ran in the 9th November edi- tion of the newspaper.

The very next day, a brand new Triumph Thruxton R, fitted with a Track Racer kit as an homage to the café racer era, graced the Banking and Motoring Village for some video and stills work. The content was being produced for a motorcycling website called BikeSocial (www.bikesocial.co.uk) that creates news, reviews and features for the UK’s motorcycle enthusiasts. Paul Stewart

Youth in Aviation event at the Houses of Parliament

T

he Museum’s Learning Team, accompanied by three members of the Youth Panel, visited Parliament to deliver an activity at the Youth In Aviation event on 23rd November.

The event aimed to lobby MPs for their support for charitable organisations engaged in promot- ing careers in aviation to future generations. Equipping the young people of today with better ‘STEM’ capabilities will allow the UK to capitalise on the opportunities associated with the huge forecast growth in air transport and the consequent opportunities for aerospace and advanced manufacturing.
