around and this year would like to award the top prize to a prolific Brooklands photographer whose work is normally found on his Instagram feed – congratulations to Paul Hitchens. His photo of a mud-spattered Austin Seven special on the Finishing Straight is the one chosen to take the winner’s laurels and is popular not just with us but with Instagram users too, with nearly 2,000 ‘likes’. Look out next year for a new and not so secret BTM photographic competition.
Finally... Paul Hitchens’ competition-winning photo.
ual, Double, Family and Club. Membership cards are issued to named people at all levels and these cards should only be used by those named adults who are the members. Children of members at Family and Club Level do not need to be named but they must be accompanied by at least one of the card-holding adults. The only level where un-named guests are allowed free entry to the Museum is Club level, again those persons must be accompanied by one of the card-holding adults. Cards should not be lent to others for use. We would appreciate it if you could keep to these rules as abuse results in lost revenue for the Museum and the prime function of the BTM is to raise funds for it – we would be failing in our objectives if we did not mention this.
Secret photo competition
For the past few years we have held a ‘secret’ photographic competition linked to our social media pages. Anyone who posts on them or links Brooklands pictures to them automatically enters the competition. We keep an eye on them all year
In the last column I mentioned the concours at Chantilly in France. It seems another member was present, Stephen Ennis, in his MGB GT, but it wasn’t sporting a BTM sticker. That has now been rectified and will make him easier to spot at other shows. We’ll be keeping our eyes out for BTM cars at events when we are out and about, so make sure you have a BTM sticker in your windscreen.
In memory of... Sadly, each issue we lose some of our members and we’d like to pass the condolences of the Brooklands Trust Members, Chairman and Committee to the families of the following who we have been notified have recently passed away: William Hayward – a very early supporter of Brooklands having joined the Friends in 1991 and stayed as a continuous member for nearly 25 years. David Williams – a member for just 18 months. Nicholas Benger – a very early member of the Friends, being membership number 117. Peter Ryan – a member with his wife Caroline for over two years. Geoff Chase – a member for over two years. Reginald Green – from Tunbridge Wells, a member for over two years.
