100 By the Dart • Pat & Paul Heighway ‘They were very generous people but perhaps none

more so than in the time they gave - to their family and friends, village, a production, a panto, schools, round table, parish council, village hall, community projects, Queen’s Golden Jubilee, youth club, Dit’sum Regatta, work, colleagues or clients. Their legacy is impressive. ‘Mum and dad just got on with things. They used to

say ‘time and tide wait for no man’ and this is how they lived their lives. And this is something Penny and I have tried to follow through with in our lives. They were ‘doers’ and the south Hams is a better place because of the contribution they made. ‘Food and entertaining was a big part of their lives.

Mum and dad were party people and loved the company of others. ‘All of the grandchildren enjoyed the numerous and

regular trips to Middle Meadow, an opportunity to cook, paint and make something in the shed and to run free in the garden and meadow. ‘several people have asked us what we intend to do with Middle Meadow and I’m delighted to confirm it’s our intention to retain it within the family for mum and dad’s grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren.’ Pat and Paul leave two children, architect Jonathan and lawyer Penny; five grandchildren Chloe, Alicia, Millie, Jack and ellie; and four step grandchildren Jess, Luke, Tom and Ross.
