Art can be an important mode through which you undertake research, as well as a way to present your findings. In this presentation on Slideshare, Shelley Tracey, from Queens University Belfast, explains how trainee literacy teachers use arts-based approaches both as assignment presentations and to undertake research with learners. These are highly accessible participatory approaches: For example, the leaf on the right from a collage was drawn/ written by learners about their literacy teacher. The leaf in the centre was designed by a literacy learner and describes his feels about literacy learning. Hereby, it’s possible to see how an arts-based approach can enable you to sharing meaning in a way comparable to other modes (such a spoken or written only in words):
