The ‘confidence scale’ in the example shown above, was used to help measure tutors’ confidence during an LSIS-funded action research project.
Using scales in action research projects Here are some ways that you might use scales as part of your action research: • To measure and compare participants’ feelings or confidence at different points in time. • To enable you to quantify otherwise qualitative information.
• As a form of questioning that does not rely on people writing down their answers or choosing pre-defined written categories such as ‘good’ or ‘excellent’.
